Running a Single Fan

I live in a 1-bedroom/1 bath condo (approx. 600 square ft), keep my single window AC unit above 72 degrees all summer, and oftentimes leave on a single fan in the kitchen. I run the dishwasher (a newly acquired, pretty energy efficient) appliance maybe twice a month and cook on the gas stove 3-4 times a week. My management company pays for the water and heat. One might wonder then how my Xcel energy bill could end up well over $100. It’s an energy scam, and I have the pictures to prove it.

In this gallery, you can see pictures of Xcel Graphs (May-Aug) that show Gene’s energy costs. You can also see what they then billed him for (which is a different number than what he used or is his cost) and what he has already paid. As he has calculated based on what he has paid so far (due to unreasonable charges, he fell a little behind) and what is shown in the Graphs, he should only currently owe a total of $126.66 give or take a few cents; however, Xcel claims he owes $248.19.

I have already spoken on the phone with both 2 Xcel Energy customer service reps and 1 via chat. All three ended the interaction immediately when I was able to prove that the charge was in excess of the amount of my home usage as is clearly shown in their Graphs instead of resolving the issue and only charging me for my home usage. This is a scam.

Running a single fan should not cost $100 bucks a month!
